Presentation of the publishing house Armand Colin

Our publishing house was created in 1870, and we are extremely proud to be one of the leading French academic publishers in the fields of literature, history, humanities and social science.
With an impressive backlist of almost 1500 strong-selling titles, we publish more than 300 new books and 19 scientific journals annually.

EDUCATION – RESEARCH
Aimed at the areas of higher education and research, our manuals, atlases, monographs, research works and scientific journals have been used by generations of students and researchers in the humanities and social sciences.
Series such as U, Cursus, 128, Lettres Sup or the new collection, Armand Colin / Recherches, are iconic in history, geography, literature, sociology, etc.
The updated Cinéma / Arts visuels and Lettres Sup series position us as the leading publisher in the areas of literature and the performing arts. Since 2011 we have pursued a policy of acquiring research monographs in the field of humanities, published under the banner of the new Armand Colin / Recherches collection.

PROFESSIONAL
Our books are used in practice by a wide variety of professionals including psychologists, psychoanalysts, coaches and managers. Museum curators and several other cultural institutions also find our books invaluable resources.

ESSAYS & DOCUMENTS
Our readers are professionals or amateurs, devoted to or interested in history, sociology, literature, geography, geopolitics, economy or religion. We offer them high-calibre works that combine scholarship with reflection on the great questions of our times. Our publications in these areas range from works for the general reader (Individu et Société or Eléments de réponse) to scholarly essays (Le Temps des idées or Emergences), all edited by experts in the field.

ILLUSTRATED BOOKS
Readers of our illustrated books travel through time on fascinating journeys. The subject areas are meticulously selected and researched, and the scholarly text is accompanied by stunning illustrations. Together they bring historical narratives to life and celebrate the aesthetic and the intellectual in best-selling volumes. bd0
